How to Search a Rajasthan Death Certificate Online
- Visit Pehchan Rajasthan. Open the official Rajasthan Civil Registration System.
- Choose the relevant public service. Use Registration Search, the death application page or the certificate-download service, depending on what you need.
- Select “Death”. On the certificate service, choose Death as the event type.
- Enter registration details. Provide the registration number and year, or the mobile number where the service permits it.
- Complete the captcha. Enter the security code displayed on the portal and submit the search.

Latest Legal Framework
The Rajasthan Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules, 2025 were notified on 31 January 2025 and came into force from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. Amended Rule 5 prescribes Form No. 2 for reporting a death. The amended rules also standardise the format for names, dates and addresses in statutory forms.

Delayed Death Registration
Under the amended statutory framework, a death reported after 30 days but within one year requires written permission of the District Registrar or other prescribed authority, payment of the applicable fee and the prescribed supporting documents. A death reported after one year requires an order of the District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate or an Executive Magistrate authorised by the District Magistrate having jurisdiction over the place of occurrence, after verification and payment of the prescribed fee.
Registration Within 21 Days
Pehchan states that, in both urban and rural areas, information about a birth or death should be given to the concerned Registrar within 21 days of the event. The portal states that the certificate can be obtained free of charge when registration is made within this period through the concerned registration office.
Download and Digital Signature
The official Pehchan e-certificate page supports Birth, Death, Still Birth and Marriage certificates. For a death certificate, choose Death, search using the registration number or mobile number, enter the registration number/year and captcha, and proceed to the available certificate.
Pehchan also provides instructions for validating the digital signature in a downloaded PDF when the green validation mark is not displayed.
DigiLocker and WhatsApp Availability
Pehchan states that registrations after 2014 may be searched in DigiLocker using the registration number and year. Legacy registrations available on Pehchan from before 2014 may be searched using the registration number, mobile number and year. The portal also states that birth, death and marriage certificates can be delivered through WhatsApp after they are digitally signed by the Registrar.
Update Mobile Number or Email
If the contact information linked to a registration needs updating, Pehchan provides a separate mobile and email update service. The service supports Birth, Death, Still Birth and Marriage records and can use an existing mobile number, Aadhaar number or email ID as available on the portal.
If the Death Certificate Is Not Found
Check the registration number, year and event type carefully. Older or non-digitised records may require assistance from the competent local Registrar. For delayed registrations, corrections or other record-specific issues, follow the statutory process and directions issued by the competent Rajasthan registration authority.
