View FIR Copy Online - Haryana Police
Search and download FIR online through Haryana Police
Haryana Police provides an online FIR Download facility through its
Citizen Centric Portal. Citizens can use the official Haryana Police
website to access FIR-related information without necessarily
visiting a police station. The current Haryana Police portal lists
FIR Download among its Citizen Services.
The procedure described on many older websites refers to the former
`haryanapoliceonline.gov.in` portal and an older Public Information
→ FIR Search interface. That procedure should no longer be presented
as the current method. The Haryana Police website has since moved to
its current Citizen Centric Portal at haryanapolice.gov.in.

https://www.haryanapolice.gov.in/Login
If you do not already have a citizen account, the portal provides an
option to create one.
Important: Haryana Police currently states that e-Saral portal login
credentials will not work for Citizen Login. Citizens should use
their existing Harsamay citizen-login credentials or create a new
citizen login.
Step 4: Enter the FIR search details
After opening the FIR Download facility, enter the information
requested by the current portal.
Depending on the version of the service and the particular FIR, the
system may ask for information such as:
Year of FIR registration
District
Police Station
FIR number
Month or other identifying details
Year
Select the year in which the FIR was registered.
District
Select the district in which the FIR was registered.
Police Station
Select the police station where the FIR was registered.
FIR Number
If the FIR number is known, enter it when requested.
Month
If the current portal asks for the month of registration, select the
appropriate month.
Step 5: Search for the FIR
After entering the required information, select the Search or
equivalent option displayed by the portal.
If the FIR is available through the online system and the
information entered matches the police records, the relevant FIR
details or document may be displayed.
You may then be able to view or download the FIR copy, depending on
the service available for that record.
What information do I need to search an FIR?
The information required can vary with the current Haryana Police
portal.
It is advisable to keep the following information available:
| Information | Why it is useful |
| FIR Number | Helps identify the exact FIR |
| Year | Identifies the year of registration |
| District | Identifies the police district |
| Police Station | Identifies the police station |
| Month | May help narrow the search |
| Date of FIR | Useful where available |
If you know the FIR number, police station and year, keep these details ready before starting the search.
Can I download an FIR without visiting the police station?
Haryana Police currently provides an online FIR Download service
through its Citizen Centric Portal. Therefore, an FIR that is
available through the online service may be accessed electronically
rather than requiring a visit to the police station.
However, not every police record should automatically be assumed to
be available for online download. Access may depend on the nature of
the case, the record maintained in the system and the current rules
of the Haryana Police portal.
If a particular FIR cannot be found online, the concerned police
station or Haryana Police authority may need to be contacted.
FIR search and the new criminal laws
The procedure for registration of FIRs has changed following the
commencement of the new criminal laws.
The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS) is now the
principal procedural law replacing the Code of Criminal Procedure,
1973 for matters governed by the new law.
Section 173 BNSS - Information in cognizable cases
Section 173(1) BNSS provides that information relating to the
commission of a cognizable offence may be given orally or by
electronic communication to the officer in charge of a police
station, irrespective of the area where the offence was committed.
Where information is given electronically, it is taken on record
after being signed by the person giving the information within three
days.
This is an important update for articles that still refer only to
Section 154 CrPC for FIR registration.

FIR copy and FIR status are different
An FIR copy is a copy of the First Information Report registered by
the police.
FIR status, on the other hand, may refer to information concerning
the progress or current position of a police case.
Therefore, searching for and downloading an FIR should not
necessarily be described as checking the complete investigation
status of the case.
The current Haryana Police website separately lists FIR-related
citizen services and other police information services.
What if the FIR is not available online?
If you cannot locate an FIR through the Haryana Police online
service:
1. Check that the district is correct.
2. Check that the police station is correct.
3. Confirm the year of registration.
4. Enter the FIR number, if available.
5. Try the search again using the information requested by the
current portal.
6. If the FIR still cannot be located, contact the concerned police
station or Haryana Police.
For current searches, use the official Haryana Police website and
its current FIR Download facility rather than old third-party links.
