What is the National Educational Alliance for Technology?

NEAT was announced by the then Ministry of Human Resource Development, now the Ministry of Education, as a Public-Private Partnership initiative to improve learning outcomes through advanced educational technology.

AICTE acts as the implementing agency and facilitator between learners, educational institutions and participating EdTech companies. The platform is designed to make technology products available through one national portal.

The initiative is not itself a degree-awarding institution. Products and courses are offered by participating companies, and learners should review the provider, course description, fees, prerequisites, certification and terms before enrolling.

Public-Private Partnership Model

NEAT operates as a Public-Private Partnership between the Government, through AICTE, and Education Technology companies.

AICTE does not develop every learning product itself. Instead, EdTech companies submit products for screening and, if selected, their learning solutions may be showcased on the NEAT platform.

The Government's role is primarily facilitative: provide the national platform, screen participating solutions, improve access and support socially and economically disadvantaged students through the scheme's free-seat or coupon mechanism.

Artificial Intelligence and Personalized Learning

One of NEAT's central ideas is the use of Artificial Intelligence and adaptive-learning technologies to create more personalized learning experiences.

Such tools may adjust content, assessment or learning paths according to a learner's performance, pace or identified skill gaps. NEAT also includes products in emerging technologies and highly marketable skill areas.

Current categories on the portal include certification courses, coding skills, assessment tests, career counselling, employability enhancement, immersive technologies, emerging technology subjects, placement support and other education-related products.

Free Coupons for Economically and Socially Weaker Students

The original NEAT model required participating EdTech providers to contribute free learning access as part of their participation in the national platform. These free seats or coupons are intended for students from economically and socially weaker sections.

The current AICTE portal continues to maintain information relating to NEAT Free Coupons Statistics. Allocation depends on the NEAT mechanism, participating products, student information and applicable institutional or portal procedures.

Courses and Learning Products on NEAT

The live portal lists a wide range of online learning categories. These may include:

• Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science;
• coding and software skills;
• certification programmes;
• assessment and aptitude tests;
• career counselling;
• placement and internship support;
• employability-enhancement courses;
• Indian and international language courses;
• immersive technologies such as AR/VR/MR;

Availability changes as providers and products are added, removed or updated.

How Students and Learners Can Use NEAT

1. Open the official AICTE NEAT portal.
2. Register as a learner/student using the current portal process.

4. Check the provider, price, duration, prerequisites and certification terms.
5. Review whether any free-coupon benefit is available for the relevant product.
6. Enroll only after reading the product-specific terms and conditions.

AICTE's portal also provides a grievance mechanism for learners and other stakeholders.

EdTech Company Participation

Education Technology companies can participate through expressions of interest issued for different NEAT phases. Companies are screened before their products are showcased on the platform.

The current AICTE NEAT ecosystem includes an Expression of Interest route for later phases, including a reference to NEAT 6.0 on the live portal.

EdTech companies should use the official AICTE EoI portal and current guidelines for application fees, eligibility, product evaluation, free-seat obligations and onboarding requirements.

Role of AICTE

AICTE is the implementing agency for NEAT on behalf of the Ministry of Education. It maintains the portal, facilitates the alliance with EdTech providers, supports learner access and manages scheme processes such as product onboarding, free-coupon mechanisms and grievances.

AICTE's role as facilitator does not mean that it guarantees employment or every commercial claim made by a course provider. Learners should evaluate each product independently.

Current Portal Scale

The live NEAT portal currently displays hundreds of EdTech companies and a large catalogue of education products. The exact counts change over time as providers and products are updated.

Because NEAT is a dynamic digital marketplace/platform rather than a fixed one-time scholarship scheme, students should use current portal information rather than relying on old 2019 launch figures.
