PM-KISAN 2026: ₹6,000 Farmer Income Support, Eligibility, eKYC & Status
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a Central Sector Direct Benefit Transfer scheme that provides eligible landholding farmer families with ₹6,000 per year in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each.

What is Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi?
PM-KISAN is a 100% Central Government-funded Central Sector scheme that became operational from 1 December 2018.
Its purpose is to supplement the financial needs of eligible landholding farmer families and support expenditure connected with agriculture, farm inputs and household needs.
The benefit is transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer system.

Current PM-KISAN Eligibility
PM-KISAN currently provides income support to eligible landholding farmer families across the country, subject to the scheme's exclusion criteria and verification requirements.
The State Government or Union Territory administration identifies eligible farmer families according to PM-KISAN guidelines and land records.
The scheme is no longer generally restricted to farmers owning up to 2 hectares. That restriction belonged to the original launch-stage framework.
Who is Not Eligible for PM-KISAN?
The following higher-economic-status categories are excluded under the current scheme framework:
- institutional landholders;
- farmer families having former or present holders of specified constitutional posts;
- former or present Ministers, State Ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of State Legislatures, Mayors of Municipal Corporations and Chairpersons of District Panchayats;
- specified serving or retired officers and employees of Central/State Government, PSEs, autonomous institutions and local bodies, except permitted Multi-Tasking Staff/Class IV/Group D categories;
- specified retired pensioners receiving pension of ₹10,000 or more per month, subject to the scheme exceptions;
- persons who paid income tax in the last assessment year; and
- professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects registered with professional bodies and carrying on professional practice.
Mandatory eKYC, Aadhaar and Verification
The official PM-KISAN portal states that eKYC is mandatory for registered PM-KISAN farmers.
Available eKYC methods include portal/mobile-based services and biometric authentication through Common Service Centres and authorised users, subject to the live PM-KISAN system.
PM-KISAN uses Aadhaar-based authentication, beneficiary data and digitised land records to verify eligibility and reduce duplicate or ineligible payments.
Where the Department identifies a suspected exclusion or duplicate-beneficiary case, payment may be temporarily withheld pending physical or administrative verification.
How to Register for PM-KISAN
Eligible farmers may use the current PM-KISAN registration process through the official portal, Common Service Centres or the State/UT mechanism.
Online New Farmer Registration
- Open the official PM-KISAN portal.
- Select New Farmer Registration.
- Provide Aadhaar and the details requested by the portal.
- Enter land, bank and contact information as required.
- Submit the registration for State/UT verification.
- Track the self-registration/CSC registration status through the official portal.
Through CSC or State/UT Authorities
Common Service Centres remain authorised to assist with farmer registration. Eligible farmers can also approach the competent State/UT agriculture, revenue or PM-KISAN nodal authority where required.
How to Check PM-KISAN Beneficiary and Payment Status
The official PM-KISAN portal provides a Know Your Status service. The beneficiary can use the registration number and registered mobile number to check information such as payment status, bank details, credited amount and financial-year-wise eKYC information.
The official portal also provides:
- beneficiary list;
- registration-number lookup;
- self-registration/CSC registration status;
- online refund facility;
- voluntary surrender and revocation services;
- State transfer request;
- helpdesk/query form; and
- PM-KISAN mobile-app access.
Latest PM-KISAN Instalment in 2026
The 23rd instalment of PM-KISAN was released on 20 June 2026 from Tarakeswar, Hooghly, West Bengal.
More than ₹18,880 crore was transferred to approximately 9.44 crore eligible farmers, including over 2.18 crore women farmers.
By that release, Government reporting stated that cumulative PM-KISAN disbursement since launch had crossed ₹4.46 lakh crore.
Land Ownership and Verification Issues
The PM-KISAN portal currently flags certain categories for verification, including some cases involving land ownership acquired after 1 February 2019 and cases where more than one member of the same defined family appears to be receiving benefits.
Such flags do not mean that every post-2019 land transfer is automatically ineligible. Eligibility can depend on the nature of the transfer, succession and current operational guidelines. Farmers whose benefits are withheld should use the official Know Your Status facility or contact the designated PM-KISAN authority for verification.
