How to apply for PAN online through UTIITSL

  1. Visit the authorised UTIITSL PAN portal. Use the official PAN services website rather than saved or outdated deep links.
  2. Select the new PAN application service. Choose the applicant category and the form applicable to you under the current rules.
  3. Enter your details carefully. Provide the applicant's name, date of birth/incorporation, contact details, status and other information required by the current online form.
  4. Provide the prescribed supporting documents. Keep valid proof of identity, address and date of birth/incorporation ready. Follow the document requirements displayed on the current official portal.
  5. Complete authentication and submission. Depending on the facility offered for the applicant category, the process may include electronic authentication/e-sign or submission of supporting documents.
  6. Pay the applicable processing fee. Use the payment methods shown on the official portal. Check the fee displayed before payment because charges can change.
  7. Save the acknowledgement/reference number. Keep the generated acknowledgement or application number for tracking and correspondence.
  8. Track the PAN application. Use the status facility on the same authorised service provider portal through which the application was submitted.

Documents and date-of-birth proof

The documents accepted depend on the applicant type and the current Income-tax Rules. For an individual application, use only the proof options displayed in the current prescribed form and authorised PAN portal.

Do not rely on old document lists. The 2026 PAN forms and proof requirements have changed. In particular, current service-provider notices state that Aadhaar is not to be treated as proof of date of birth for PAN applications under the revised 2026 rules. Check the live portal before uploading or sending documents.

Existing PAN holders

The introduction of new PAN application forms from 1 April 2026 does not invalidate existing PAN numbers. If you already have a PAN, use the relevant correction, address/contact update, reprint or e-PAN service instead of seeking a second PAN.

UTIITSL address update facility is available for eligible Indian citizens through Aadhaar-linked authentication, subject to the conditions shown on the portal.

Frequently asked questions

Is Form 49A still used for a fresh PAN application?

Not for fresh applications filed on or after 1 April 2026. The current forms are Form 93, 94, 95 and 96 depending on citizenship and whether the applicant is an individual or entity.

Do I need a fresh PAN because the Income-tax Act changed?

No. Existing PAN numbers continue to remain valid. The new forms apply to fresh applications under the current law.

Can I apply for more than one PAN?

No. A person who already has a PAN should use correction or update services where necessary rather than applying for an additional PAN.

Where should I check the latest fee and document list?

Always check the authorised PAN service provider's live application page immediately before submission, because fees, authentication options and operational requirements can change.
