You can check the status and history of many Indian court cases online through official judicial portals. Depending on the court, searches may be available by CNR number, party name, case number, filing number, advocate name, FIR number, Act or case type.
District and Taluka Court Case Status
The official eCourts Services portal provides access to District and Taluka Court case information. If you know the CNR number, it is usually the quickest search method. A CNR is a 16-character alphanumeric identifier. When the CNR is not available, use the Case Status search and choose another available search criterion.
How to Search District Court Case Status
- Open the official eCourts Services portal.
- If you know the CNR, enter the 16-character CNR number without spaces or hyphens and complete the CAPTCHA.
- If you do not know the CNR, open Case Status.
- Select the required State, District, Court Complex and Establishment where the portal asks for them.
- Choose the appropriate search method, enter the case details, complete the CAPTCHA and submit the search.
- Open the matching result to view the available case history, status, hearing information and other case details.

Enter the petitioner, respondent or other party name, registration year and case status where requested.
Select the case type and enter the case number and year.
Enter the filing number and filing year with the other details required by the portal.
Search using advocate name, bar registration number or other advocate-related options shown on the portal.
Select the police station and enter the FIR number, year and status where required.
Select the relevant Act and, if useful, enter the section before searching pending or disposed cases.
Select the case type and year, then choose pending or disposed status as available.
High Court Case Status
For High Courts covered by the eCourts High Court service, first select the High Court and Bench. The official service currently provides searches by party name, case number, filing number, advocate name, FIR number, Act and case type. It also provides access to court orders and cause lists.
