How to check Supreme Court case status
Open the official Case Status service and select the search method that matches the information available to you. Enter the required particulars, complete the CAPTCHA or security question shown on the website, submit the search and open the matching result to view the available case information.
1. Supreme Court case status by Diary Number
A Diary Number is allotted when a matter is filed in the Supreme Court. If you know this number, select Diary Number, enter the diary number and year, complete the CAPTCHA and submit the search.
This method is particularly useful for newly filed matters that may not yet have a registered case number.
2. Supreme Court case status by Case Number
Select Case Number, choose the relevant case type, enter the case number and year, solve the CAPTCHA and submit. This is generally the most direct method when the registered Supreme Court case number is known.
3. Supreme Court case status by CNR Number
The present Supreme Court case-status interface includes a CNR Number search option. Enter the CNR details requested by the official form, complete the CAPTCHA and submit the search.
4. Supreme Court case status by Party Name
The current Party Name search asks the user to select Petitioner / Respondent, enter the Party's Name, select the Diary Year and Status, then solve the CAPTCHA before searching.
5. Supreme Court case status by AOR Code / Name
The current official AOR search is available under AOR Code. The form asks for the Petitioner / Respondent selection, AOR Name, Case Year, Status and CAPTCHA. This facility is useful when searching for matters associated with an Advocate-on-Record.
6. Supreme Court case status by Court
The current case-status interface includes a Court search option for tracing matters by details of the originating court or tribunal. Enter the particulars requested by the official form and complete the CAPTCHA to obtain available matching results.
7. Find Supreme Court orders and judgments
Orders and judgments are available separately from the current Supreme Court website. The Latest Orders section publishes recent orders with case number, diary number, parties, order date and upload information. Judgment-search facilities are also available through the Court's official website.
8. Check next hearing information and Supreme Court cause lists
For scheduled listings, check the official Cause List. The Supreme Court publishes daily and other cause lists showing Court Number, Hon'ble Judges and listed matters. Case-status information and cause lists should be read together when confirming the next listing or hearing position.
What details can be available online?
Depending on the case and stage of proceedings, official Supreme Court services may provide the diary number, registered case number, party names, advocate information, filing or registration details, listing information, case status, orders, judgments and related procedural information.
