Income-tax Deduction: Section 80G and Section 133

For Assessment Year 2026-27 and earlier periods governed by the Income-tax Act, 1961: eligible donations to a qualifying State Chief Minister's Relief Fund are claimed under section 80G.

For Tax Year 2026-27 beginning 1 April 2026 and later: the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies. The corresponding deduction is under section 133. Section 133(1)(a)(xv) covers a State or Union Territory Chief Minister's/Lieutenant Governor's Relief Fund when the statutory conditions are satisfied. A qualifying donation under that clause is deductible at 100% and is not subject to the 10% adjusted-gross-total-income ceiling that applies to specified other donations.

Cash restriction: if a donation exceeds ₹2,000, the tax deduction is available only when payment is made by a mode other than cash. Use bank transfer, cheque, UPI or another permitted non-cash mode and keep the receipt and transaction evidence.

Tax treatment depends on the law applicable to the relevant tax/assessment period. While filing a return for an earlier year, use the provisions and ITR utility applicable to that year rather than applying the 2025 Act retrospectively.

What Is the PAN of Telangana Chief Minister Relief Fund?

Important correction: this page previously displayed PAN AAAGC0038F. That PAN is published by government sources for the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund and should not be used as a verified PAN for Telangana CMRF.

The current official Telangana CMRF page publishes the SBI account, IFSC, UPI ID, postal address, email and online donation portal, but it does not publish a PAN for the Telangana CMRF. Therefore, no Telangana CMRF PAN is stated here as verified.

For an income-tax return that specifically requires a donee PAN or other identification detail, use the particulars shown on the official donation receipt/certificate or obtain confirmation from the Telangana CMRF authority. Do not copy a PAN from an unrelated State relief fund.

How to Use the Donation Details in Your Income-tax Return

Keep the official donation receipt and payment evidence. When the applicable ITR asks for the donee name, donation amount, payment mode or eligible deduction amount, enter the figures exactly as supported by your receipt and the return utility for that year.

DoneeUse the exact name printed on the official Telangana CMRF receipt.
Donation amountEnter the amount actually donated.
Payment modeUse the actual mode: UPI, bank transfer, cheque or other permitted mode.
Cash donationA donation exceeding ₹2,000 does not qualify for deduction if paid in cash.
PAN / identificationUse only the PAN or identification shown on the official receipt/certificate or otherwise confirmed by the authority.
Eligible deductionFor a qualifying CMRF donation, the statutory category provides 100% deduction without the qualifying-limit ceiling, subject to the applicable law and conditions.
