The Government of NCT of Delhi announced that fresh applications for ration cards and applications for addition of members are accepted through the e-District portal from 15 May 2026.
Old and long-pending applications may be returned to the applicant's e-District account for resubmission with the required Family Income Certificate issued by the jurisdictional Revenue Authority. Applicants should check Apply Online → Pending for Submission after logging in.

Law Governing Delhi Ration Cards in 2026
Delhi ration-card benefits under the National Food Security framework are governed by the National Food Security Act, 2013 and the Delhi Food Security Rules, 2026, notified by the Government of NCT of Delhi in February 2026.
The Delhi Government also notified the Delhi Food Security (Amendment) Rules, July 2026. Applicants should therefore use current eligibility criteria and documentary requirements published by the Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs rather than older APL/BPL or colour-card classifications.
Who Can Apply for a Delhi NFSA Ration Card?
Eligibility is determined under the National Food Security Act and the Delhi Food Security Rules. The Delhi Food & Supplies Department currently lists vulnerable groups and household conditions relevant to Priority Household identification.
- Residents of eligible vulnerable geographical or social categories identified by the Delhi Government.
- Households falling within the applicable Priority Household criteria.
- Eligible Antyodaya Anna Yojana households under the applicable NFSA framework.
- Applicants meeting income, residence and other conditions prescribed in the current Delhi rules and instructions.
Important: Eligibility is not determined merely by choosing "APL", "BPL" or a ration-card colour. Those descriptions appeared in older procedures. Check the current Department eligibility page before applying.
How to Apply for a New Ration Card Online in Delhi

Open the official e-District Delhi portal.
Use the Government of NCT of Delhi e-District website. Avoid unofficial websites asking for Aadhaar, OTP or payment details. -
Register as a citizen or sign in.
If you are a new user, complete citizen registration. The e-District registration guidance states that a valid mobile number is mandatory for online registration. -
Open the Food & Supply service.
After logging in, go to the online-services area and select the relevant Food & Supply ration-card service that is available for your application. -
Complete the application form.
Enter the applicant and household information exactly as required by the portal. Do not rely on old screenshots or field names because the online form can be revised. -
Upload the documents requested by the portal.
Upload the current supporting documents applicable to your household and application. If a Family Income Certificate is required, obtain it from the competent Revenue Authority. -
Review and submit.
Verify all details carefully before final submission. Save the application or acknowledgement number generated by the portal. -
Track the application.
Use e-District's Track Your Application service to monitor processing and respond promptly if the application is returned for correction or resubmission.

The exact documents depend on the category and service selected. Follow the document checklist shown on the current e-District application. Commonly relevant information may include:
- Identity and residence details of the applicant and household members.
- Aadhaar details where required for the relevant government service.
- Valid mobile number for registration, communication and authentication.
- Family Income Certificate where required under the current application process.
- Other category, residence or supporting documents requested by the portal.
Do not upload documents based only on an old checklist. The live e-District form and current departmental rules should be treated as the controlling application instructions.
